## About the role
Yupzee.LTD is looking for a Sales Assistant to join our retail team in Colombo, working directly with customers to drive purchases and deliver a smooth shopping experience. This role sits at the heart of our day-to-day operations — your interactions with customers directly shape how people perceive and connect with our brand.
## What you'll do
- Greet and assist walk-in customers, understand their needs, and guide them toward the right products
- Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system and issue receipts or invoices
- Maintain product displays and ensure shelves are fully stocked, labeled, and visually organised
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns in a professional and timely manner
- Support the sales team in meeting daily and monthly sales targets by following up on leads and promotions
- Coordinate with the store supervisor to report stock shortages and assist with inventory counts
## What we're looking for
- A minimum of 3 passes at the G.C.E. O/L examination; A/L qualification is an added advantage
- Clear verbal communication skills in Sinhala and/or Tamil, with a working knowledge of English
- A genuine interest in retail and a willingness to engage with a wide range of customers
- Basic numeracy skills and the ability to handle cash responsibly and accurately
- Ability to remain composed and helpful during busy periods or when handling difficult customer situations
- Willingness to work on weekends, public holidays, and shift rotations as required
## Nice to have
- Prior experience in a retail store, supermarket, or customer-facing role in Sri Lanka
- Familiarity with point-of-sale software or basic inventory management tools
- Knowledge of current retail promotions, product categories, or seasonal sales trends in the local market
